[Overview en Castellano](#introducción) # Introduction The design of this cube is inspired by the synergy-based approach of the [Powered Synergy Cube](https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/synerpegy) by @gannoncd. In [this great article](https://calebgannon.com/2022/03/08/introduction-to-my-powered-synergy-cube/), he describes the intention for players to focus on "building machines": a series of synergistic cards that generate great value or win the game on the spot. To achieve this, he removes cards capable of winning a match on their own in favor of less powerful cards that provide a puzzle piece in a deadly combination. This "unpowered" version is a twist on the original idea, replacing some archetypes and lowering the overall power level. The Power 9 and the strongest mana rocks are removed, as well as some cards with excessive impact on the board, allowing for more traditional aggro, control, and midrange strategies. Storm is completely excluded, and "Monster" archetypes like Reanimator, Ramp, and "Cheat" are included, while limiting the monsters' impact so they don't represent an inevitable endgame but rather a considerable advantage that must be capitalized on and maintained to win. # Strategies ## Elves {G} The cube includes 27 elves, 10 of which can produce mana. Most elves are useful in any deck that includes green, so the archetype doesn’t “build itself.” There are a few Elf Lords that can signal the archetype is open, the most important being [[Ezuri, Renegade Leader]]. If you can untap with a couple of elves and one of these lords, victory is often within reach. <<[[!Ezuri, Renegade Leader]] [[!Elvish Warmaster|58da074a-a776-4e3f-be04-9e7f18320ae1]] [[!Priest of Titania]] [[!Heritage Druid]]>> Elves can also serve as ramp to cast a [[Vaultborn Tyrant]] or [[Craterhoof Behemoth]], their most natural finishers. To help this archetype compete with control decks that include sweepers, splashing other colors can be key: white to grant indestructibility, blue to play counterspells or [[Beck // Call]] to draw cards and potentially combo off with elves, or black for recursion. For a monogreen elves build, [[Fecundity]] and [[Beast Whisperer]] allow card draw engines. ## Blue Artifacts >>><<[[!Urza, Lord High Artificer]] [[!Sai, Master Thopterist]] [[!Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] [[!Thought Monitor]]>><<< The blue artifact strategy seeks to generate value through artifact synergies. Artifacts are represented across {U}{W}{R}, combining blue’s value generation with red’s aggression and recursion tools like [[Goblin Engineer]] and [[Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle]]. ## Sacrifice {B} / {R} {G} <<[[!Mayhem Devil]] [[!Greater Gargadon]] [[!Blood Artist]] [[!Morbid Opportunist]]>> Most black creatures reference the sacrifice mechanic. These creatures are generally weak in isolation but can be devastating in the right deck. For example, [[Nested Shambler]] can fulfill two sacrifice requirements for a single mana if it has no +1/+1 counters. Being a low-cost zombie, it can easily return to the battlefield with [[Relentless Dead]], [[Lurrus of the Dream-Den]], [[Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants]], [[Unearth]], etc. Key enablers for mass or repeatable sacrifices include: - [[Goblin Bombardment]] - [[Altar of Dementia]] - [[Greater Gargadon]] - [[Phyrexian Altar]] - [[Ashnod's Altar]] - [[Carrion Feeder]] - [[Woe Strider]] - [[Warren Soultrader]] There are several rewards for sacrificing creatures, including [[Blood Artist]] and [[Marionette Apprentice]]—both terrifying to see on the other side of the table. A late [[Goblin Bombardment]] can indicate that this strategy is open. ### Zombies {B} The cube has 16 zombies, 4 of which specifically care about the creature type: <<[[!Gravecrawler]] [[!Relentless Dead]] [[!Headless Rider]] [[!Cryptbreaker]]>> Zombies are mainly there to be sacrificed, and there are multiple ways to capitalize on that dynamic. >>> [[!Phyrexian Altar]] <<< [[Gravecrawler]] is one of the most relevant pieces in the Sacrifice archetype, given the high number of zombies and sacrifice outlets. With [[Phyrexian Altar]] and another zombie in play, it can be recast infinitely. To make the combo lethal, there are multiple options, such as [[Blood Artist]], [[Headless Rider]], and [[Molten Gatekeeper]]. ### Artifact Sacrifice {C}{W}{B}{R} <<[[!Myr Retriever]] [[!Scrap Trawler]] [[!Krark-Clan Ironworks]] [[!Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle]]>> [[Krark-Clan Ironworks]] is a powerful card that enables a series of artifact combos, especially in combination with [[Scrap Trawler]] and [[Myr Retriever]]—a [classic Modern combo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8olqGdtZuvg). It’s possible to build around this archetype even without Ironworks, using cards like [[Oni-Cult Anvil]] and [[Arcbound Ravager]], with recursion from [[Scrap Trawler]] and [[Myr Retriever]] to produce value while draining the opponent or attacking with the ever-tricky Ravager. [[Oswald Fiddlebender]] allows sacrificing artifacts while tutoring key pieces to bring scrapped components back to the production line. [[Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle]] enables multiple infinite loops—with [[Myr Retriever]] and a [[Bauble|29175e6b-a2ab-4373-8093-cb372aa8c7d0]], any altar creates infinite sacrifices. Even with a 1-mana artifact creature, [[Ashnod's Altar]] generates infinite mana. [[Krark-Clan Ironworks]] can generate infinite mana through recursion without even needing Teshar. [[Sai, Master Thopterist]] or [[Genesis Chamber]] can create infinite tokens, and [[Hangarback Walker]] also works beautifully, going mana-positive with an altar. ### Second Sunrise {W} <<[[!Second Sunrise]] [[!Faith's Reward]] [[!Brought Back]]>> Complementing the various mass-sacrifice strategies, these spells allow you to recover the sacrificed permanents, becoming extremely powerful when cast at the right time. This strategy seeks to leverage mass-sacrifice effects while enabling several infinite combos: <<[[!Pinnacle Monk]] [[!Dualcaster Mage]] [[!Eternal Witness]]>> [[Pinnacle Monk]] allows you to return instants or sorceries from the graveyard. With [[Phyrexian Altar]] and a couple of creatures, you can loop by sacrificing your board, casting Second Sunrise, returning it to your hand with [[Pinnacle Monk]] or [[Eternal Witness]], and repeating indefinitely. With [[Dualcaster Mage]], you can perform a similar loop by copying one of the white spells. In response to the Mage’s trigger, sacrifice it—then the copy of Second Sunrise will bring back the Mage and everything else sacrificed that turn, even with the original Sunrise still on the stack. When the Mage reenters, it copies the spell again, enabling the loop. ## Spellslinger / Tempo {U}{R} >>><<[[!Expressive Iteration]] [[!Stormwing Entity]] [[!Slickshot Show-off]] [[!Young Pyromancer]]>><<< This archetype combines aggressive red creatures with the discard/madness mechanic prevalent in red and blue. It uses cantrips to trigger effects that fire on the second spell cast, and aims to play cheap spells that generate value from cards like [[Think Twice]], [[Gush]], and [[Treasure Cruise]]. When splashed with black (or even without any swamps), [[Master of Death]] and [[Sneaky Snacker]] are solid inclusions. ## +1/+1 Counters {G}{W} >>><<[[!Innkeeper's Talent]] [[!Ozolith, the Shattered Spire]] [[!Filigree Vector]] [[!Luminarch Aspirant]]>><<< White and green are the primary colors for this archetype, though all colors have some interaction with this mechanic. The idea is to combine ways of placing counters on creatures with payoffs like [[Evolution Witness]], [[Basking Broodscale]], [[Incubation Druid]], and [[Emperor of Bones]]. Persist creatures are also natural payoffs. Several artifact creatures also interact with this mechanic, allowing the strategy to branch into a “metalcraft” variant. <<[[!Steel Overseer]] [[!Arcbound Ravager]] [[!Scrapyard Recombiner]] [[!Monoskelion]]>> [[Power Conduit]] is an uncommon but key card. At its simplest, it can add +1/+1 counters mid-combat, complicating blocks. Even better, it can remove -1/-1 counters from Persist creatures and turn them into +1/+1 counters elsewhere. With [[The Ozolith]] or an [[Innkeeper's Talent]] at class 3, moving counters effectively generates more. As a bonus, it can add charge counters to artifacts, enabling surprise plays with [[Engineered Explosives]], [[Aether Vial]], or mana acceleration via [[Pentad Prism]] and [[Coalition Relic]]. For pure delirium, it can even remove counters from Sagas to loop chapters indefinitely—including the last one—with [[Urza's Saga]] and [[Michiko's Reign of Truth]]. # Lands {G} / {R}{U} <<[[!Life from the Loam]] [[!Slogurk, the Overslime]] [[!Crucible of Worlds|eb28b35c-28a5-4042-b21d-6d43658a16eb]] [[!Wasteland|1b04fea2-ef5b-4311-bc52-8222f1501eac]]>> The cube doesn’t include [[Strip Mine]], but the ability to play lands from the graveyard opens up multiple alternative paths to advantage. [[Exploration]], [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]], and [[Icetill Explorer]] allow multiple land drops per turn. Landfall cards such as [[Valakut Exploration]], [[Tireless Tracker]], and [[Omnath, Locus of Creation]] feed off lands changing zones. [[Slogurk, the Overslime]] supports this plan and quickly becomes a threat in decks that manipulate lands. However, if we’re sacrificing lands, the most powerful payoff is [[Titania, Protector of Argoth]]. The archetype can also be built as {R}{G}, leveraging [[Molten Vortex]] for reach and inevitability in RG Lands decks, where it forms a resilient core together with [[Molten Vortex]]. <<[[!Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]] [[!Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] [[!Worldsoul's Rage]] [[!Valakut Exploration]]>> RG Lands can easily pivot between being a ramp deck that accumulates lands to cast [[Dragonlord Atarka]] or achieving inevitability through [[Molten Vortex]] and the many ways to recover lands from the graveyard to the battlefield or hand. # Lurrus {B/W} <<[[!Lurrus of the Dream-Den]] [[!Unearth]] [[!Sevinne's Reclamation]] [[!Selfless Spirit]]>> Even without Black Lotus, Lurrus is well supported with efficient removal, X-cost creatures like [[Mikaeus, the Lunarch]], [[Hangarback Walker]], [[Walking Ballista]], and [[Goldvein Hydra]], and recursion tools like [[Unearth]] and [[Sevinne's Reclamation]], plus seven other spells to reanimate any creature from the graveyard. This strategy’s foundation lies in black disruption (discard and removal) and ways to protect the cat, ensuring it becomes a nightmare for opponents. # Dredgevine / Delirium {B}{G} Leveraging overlap with discard and self-mill, this archetype focuses on filling the graveyard quickly to find threats that emerge from it. >>><<[[!Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis]] [[!Vengevine|5631668d-75f2-4d2d-b644-90c073c7be21]] [[!Scourge of Nel Toth]] [[!Bridge from Below]]>><<< The most powerful enabler for this strategy is probably [[Stitcher's Supplier]]. # Persist {W}/{G}{B} <<[[!Vizier of Remedies]] [[!Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit]] [[!Metallic Mimic]] [[!Rally the Ancestors]]>> Three cards allow creatures with Persist to return to the battlefield without -1/-1 counters. [[Kitchen Finks]], [[Murderous Redcap]], [[Putrid Goblin]], and [Universal Duplicant](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczPclH2FCgTDGWZJYPTWHO7Ps0Yjx0XfUyqpOXchBWwPMRr6UqYhW4odgQWQQm88ZM_IRrP0SZhnK2lz12ikuwZJYwfIAWYPAN9NJfmuVdGp53GwOWpPHqguW-FkBMJMCVW74vpTy1alvZOYdXHD8KBTUg=w692-h967-s-no-gm?authuser=0) all have this ability. The latter—one of the two custom cards in the cube—is particularly useful for connecting multiple archetypes. With these two pieces and a sacrifice outlet, you get an infinite effect that almost certainly ends the game. [[Rally the Ancestors]] allows building a strategy around having the combo pieces in the graveyard to reanimate them for a lethal turn. # Monsters Perhaps the most obvious difference from the Powered Synergy Cube—aside from “power”—is the presence of big creatures. <<[[!Emrakul, the Promised End]] [[!Serra's Emissary]] [[!Emrakul, the Aeons Torn]] [[!Ashen Rider]] [[!Griselbrand]] [[!Dragonlord Atarka]] [[!Vaultborn Tyrant]] [[!Pelakka Wurm]]>> Decks can be built around these monsters through several strategies: ### Cheat >>><<[[!Monster Manual]] [[!Elvish Piper]] [[!Eladamri, Korvecdal]] [[!Kona, Rescue Beastie ]]>><<< Cheat enablers are all in green, although [[Emrakul, the Aeons Torn]] justifies building some form of [[Nahiri, the Harbinger]] control with the OG. ### Reanimator {B} <<[[!Dread Return]] [[!Exhume]] [[!Life // Death]] [[!Unburial Rites]]>> The archetype is well supported, with plenty of discard outlets and several reanimation spells. In addition to the four shown above, you can include: - [[Liliana, Death's Majesty]] - [[Karmic Guide]] - [[Oracle of Bones]] ### Ramp <<[[!Harrow]] [[!Farseek]] [[!Aftermath Analyst]] [[!Icetill Explorer]]>> Complementing the Lands archetype, when you’re not sacrificing Wastelands, this deck can ramp into large creatures quickly enough to stabilize. [[Pelakka Wurm]] may seem modest, but its 7 life swing is often exactly what’s needed. It can also overlap or combine with a mana-producing Elf strategy. ### Tinker <<[[!Tinker]] [[!Combat Thresher]] [[!Angel of the Ruins]] [[!Platinum Angel]]>> The Tinker targets here aren’t the most devastating, but [[Tinker]] remains a powerful card in this cube. # Aggro {R}{W}{C} <<[[!Inti, Seneschal of the Sun]] [[!Recruitment Officer]] [[!Goblin Guide|b2e2a777-0705-4a37-937d-c6e020ebc0f0]] [[!Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]]>> Aggro isn’t just about having a low curve and aggressive creatures. Being aware of the synergies included in the deck makes a big difference and adds depth to the archetype. For example, within the Boros Aggro meta-archetype, it’s possible to include combos such as: - [[Razorkin Needlehead]] + [[Wheel of fortune]] - [[Murderous Redcap]] / [[Safehold Elite]] + [[Vizier of Remedies]] / [[Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit]] + [[Goblin Bombardment]] - [[Restoration Angel]] / [[Fear of missing out]] + [[Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker]] With sweepers in the environment, any creature-heavy deck benefits from tools to minimize the impact of mass destruction. Cards like [[Selfless Spirit]] and [[Anax, Hardened in the Forge]] protect the aggro plan from board wipes. Aggro synergies mainly revolve around artifacts, discard/madness, and tokens. ### Artifacts <<[[!Signal Pest]] [[!Mox Opal]] [[!Cranial Plating]] [[!Master of Etherium]]>> ### Madness {R} The discard mechanic crosses multiple archetypes, and “madness” takes advantage of various enablers: [[Faithless Looting]] and [[Magmatic Channeler]] with payoffs like [[Anger]], [[Blazing Rootwalla]], [[Fiery Temper]], and [[Avacyn's Judgment]] can fit in an aggressive deck or a value-oriented one. <<[[!Anje's Ravager]] [[!Blazing Rootwalla]] [[!Fiery Temper]] [[!Marauding Mako]]>> ### Tokens {R}{B} <<[[!Purphoros, God of the Forge]] [[!Goblin Rabblemaster]] [[!Anax, Hardened in the Forge]] [[!Goblin Bombardment]]>> In red, token creation finds its payoff in [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]], [[Goblin Bombardment]], and [[Molten Gatekeeper]]. In black, token generation tends to serve less aggressive purposes, mainly fueling sacrifice engines and complementary synergies. # Control {U} / {B}{W}{R} With sweepers and enough disruption, it’s possible to build a dedicated control deck whose goal is to extend the game until it can stabilize with a win condition. <<[[!Teferi, Hero of Dominaria]] [[!Jace, the Mind Sculptor]] [[!Wrath of God]] [[!Cryptic Command]]>> Control decks rely on counterspells, removal, and timing the right moment to drop a game-winning threat. Since many creatures generate value on entry, board wipes are essential to compete. It’s also crucial to consider graveyard disruption, as recursion effects are very common. # Midrange <<[[!Liliana of the Veil]] [[!Tarmogoyf]] [[!Thoughtseize]] [[!Tireless Tracker]]>> While the cube prioritizes synergistic and coherent deckbuilding, the presence of enough disruption and individually strong cards makes it viable to play a deck whose strategy is simply to stay slightly ahead of the opponent—stabilizing against aggro with larger creatures and cheap removal, pressuring combo decks with discard and aggression, and preventing control decks from stabilizing through value or tempo plays. [[Thoughtseize]], [[Tireless Tracker]], [[Pia and Kiran Nalaar]], [[Liliana of the Veil]], and [[Tarmogoyf]] are icons of this strategy, which aims for a balanced mix of disruption, threats, and a smooth mana curve. # Additional Combos and Synergies ### Jeskai Ascendancy / Intruder Alarm {U}{W}{R} >>> <<[[!Jeskai Ascendancy]] [[!Intruder Alarm|8d62468e-ed9d-4932-bbbd-103b33b98b25]]>> <<< These enchantments allow you to untap all your creatures multiple times per turn, naturally synergizing with creatures that have tap abilities. When those abilities create creatures, it’s possible to trigger them multiple or even infinite times in a turn. >>> <<[[!Imperious Perfect]] [[!Goblin Engineer]] [[!Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] [[!Retraction Helix]]>> <<< [[Retraction Helix]] can go infinite with [[Memnite]] or [[Mishra's Bauble]], depending on the enchantment. With [[Jeskai Ascendancy]], [[Retraction Helix]], and a 0-mana noncreature artifact (of which there are six), any untapped creature can trigger the Ascendancy infinitely. Supporting this strategy, Rona can act as a pseudo-Ascendancy by untapping whenever an artifact is cast, and Emry can replace Helix by looping 0-mana artifacts that sacrifice themselves, like [[Urza's Bauble]] and [[Mishra's Bauble]]. Ascendancy is a powerful card on its own, especially strong when your creatures generate mana. This makes the green side of [[Life // Death]] particularly valuable. ### Kiki {R}/{U}{W} <<[[!Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker|a2ff0ee3-9600-4c7d-acec-6ec90595384e]] [[!Kiora's Follower]] [[!Corridor Monitor]] [[!Restoration Angel]]>> ### Oracle {U}{B} >>> <<[[!Thassa's Oracle]] [[!Inverter of Truth]] [[!Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]]>> <<< The Oracle combo requires a bit more work to assemble than in a Vintage Powered Cube. A self-mill strategy is viable here, ideally paired with green for land recursion via [[Life from the Loam]], or red with [[Wheel of Fortune]], although black already offers plenty of tools to fill the graveyard. It’s wise to include ways to recover [[Thassa's Oracle]] in these setups, such as [[Conjurer's Bauble]] or [[Eternal Witness]]. ### Blink {W}{U} <<[[!Ephemerate]] [[!Soulherder]] [[!Restoration Angel]] [[!Flickerwisp]]>> With most creatures triggering abilities when entering the battlefield, it’s easy to exploit these effects for value. Watch out for your lands if an [[Ephemerate]] resolves targeting [[Avalanche Riders]]! ### Archangel Feeder {G}{W} >>><<[[!Archangel of Thune|15c34447-b0f4-4fcc-b557-23c92850b31b]] [[!Spike Feeder]]>>><<< A classic combo from the past, combining elements already present in the cube—angels and +1/+1 counters. ### Dark Depths {C} >>><<[[!Dark Depths|3a8b11ad-d077-40b6-988c-0462e118fe3d]] [[!Thespian's Stage]] [[!Vampire Hexmage]]>>><<< Ideal for inclusion in the “lands” archetype, though [[Vampire Hexmage]] and black tutors that can fetch any card also make it viable as a monoblack combo. ### Thopter Sword {U}{B/W} >>><<[[!Thopter Foundry]] [[!Sword of the Meek]]>>><<< This combo can be facilitated by [[Tinker]] and is strong enough even without Urza. [[Sword of the Meek]] also synergizes with [[Oni-Cult Anvil]], allowing you to sacrifice the sword to create an artifact token that brings it right back. ### Wheels {U}{R} <<[[!Wheel of Fortune]] [[!Echo of Eons]] [[!Narset, Parter of Veils]] [[!Scrawling Crawler]]>> [[Leovold, Emissary of Trest]] and [[Narset, Parter of Veils]] prevent opponents from drawing more than one card per turn, while [[Razorkin Needlehead]] deals 1 damage for each card they draw. ### Guide Reveillark {W} >>><<[[!Karmic Guide]] [[!Reveillark]] [[!Ashnod's Altar]] [[!Altar of Dementia]]>>><<< With one of these in the graveyard and the other on the battlefield, any sacrifice outlet can be activated recursively for infinite value or mill. # Icons An unspoken dimension in this cube’s card selection is their weight in Magic’s history—as game icons. The cube’s design appeals to nostalgia, aiming to compress the game’s story into a small set of cards. Some inclusions aren’t the best cross-pollinators across archetypes or mana curves, but they’re iconic, and that counts. Ideally, they fulfill both roles. <<[[!Tarmogoyf]] [[!Arcbound Ravager]] [[!Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]] [[!Jace, the Mind Sculptor]] [[!Wrath of God]] [[!Goblin Guide]] [[!Dark Confidant]] [[!Birds of Paradise]] [[!Snapcaster Mage]] [[!Lightning Bolt]] [[!Cryptic Command]] [[!Liliana of the Veil]] [[!Chandra, Torch of Defiance]] [[!Exploration]] [[!Vindicate]] [[!Swords to Plowshares]]>> # Archetype Matrix This table visually helps to understand the composition of each color and the relative relevance of each archetype, implying the number of cards dedicated to that archetype. [[Exploration]], [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] y [[Icetill Explorer]] permiten jugar múltiples tierras por turno. # Aggro {R}{W}{c} << [[!Inti, Seneschal of the Sun]] [[!Recruitment Officer]] [[!Goblin Guide|b2e2a777-0705-4a37-937d-c6e020ebc0f0]] [[!Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]] >> Aggro no se trata exclusivamente de tener una curva baja y criaturas agresivas. << [[!Anje's Ravager]][[!Blazing Rootwalla]][[!Fiery Temper]][[!Marauding Mako]] >> ### Tokens {R} {B} << [[!Purphoros, God of the Forge ]] [[!Goblin Rabblemaster]] [[!Anax, Hardened in the forge]] [[!Goblin Bombardment]] >> En rojo, la creación de tokens encuentra su recompensa en [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]], [[Goblin Bombardment]] y [[Molten Gatekeeper]]. Idealmente, cumplen ambos roles. <<[[!Tarmogoyf]][[!Arcbound Ravager]][[!Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]][[!Jace, the Mind Sculptor]][[!Wrath of God]][[!Goblin Guide]][[!Dark Confidant]][[!Birds of Paradise]][[!Snapcaster Mage]][[!Lightning Bolt]][[!Cryptic Command]][[!Liliana of the Veil]][[!Chandra, Torch of Defiance]][[!Exploration]][[!Vindicate]][[!Swords to Plowshares]]>> >>> # Matriz de arquetipos <<< Esta tabla ayuda visualmente a entender de qué están compuestos cada uno de los colores y la 'relevancia relativa' de cada arquetipo, implicando la cantidad de cartas dedicadas a ese arquetipo. | **Arquetipo** | **Blanco** | **Azul** | **Negro** | **Rojo** | **Verde** | **Relevancia** | |---------------------|------------|----------|-----------|----------|-----------|----------------| | Madness | | 25% | 5% | 70% | | 6 | | Artifact Aggro | 45% | 10% | | 40% | 5% | 6 | | Value artifacts | 20% | 60% | | 20% | | 6 | | Tokens | 15% | 5% | 25% | 40% | 15% | 3 | | Control | 20% | 50% | 20% | 10% | | 8 | | Elfos | 10% | 10% | 10% | | 70% | 8 | | Creature Sacrifice | 10% | | 50% | 20% | 20% | 8 | | Zombies | | | 100% | | | 3 | | Krark Clan | 75% | | | 25% | | 4 | | Second Sunrise | 60% | | 10% | 20% | 10% | 4 | | Hardened Scales | 35% | | | 5% | 60% | 5 | | Lands | | 20% | | 30% | 50% | 5 | | Lurrus | 30% | | 40% | 20% | 10% | 4 | | Dredgevine | | | 50% | | 50% | 6 | | Persist | 50% | | 15% | 10% | 25% | 4 | | Blink | 50% | 30% | | | 20% | 2 | | Ascendancy / Alarm | 25% | 35% | | 30% | 10% | 2 | | Cheat Monsters | 15% | | | 15% | 70% | 5 | | Reanimator | 5% | 35% | 50% | 10% | | 5 | | Midrange | 10% | | 40% | 20% | 30% | 2 | | Kiki | 20% | 30% | | 50% | | 2 | | Spell Slinger | | 50% | 50% | | | 6 | | Wheels combo | | 60% | | 40% | | 2 |

# Middle-Earth Cube ![ring-inscription](https://i.etsystatic.com/25244053/r/il/a98152/2863829734/il_fullxfull.2863829734_pih7.jpg) Welcome to **Middle-Earth Cube**, a flavorful limited experience celebrating **The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth** (LTR), Magic: The Gathering’s first full set in Tolkien’s world. Draft your Fellowship, resist the Shadow, and let the story play out at the table! Each color embodies different themes and factions of the story: - 🌞 **White**: Gondor’s resilience and the Fellowship’s unity - 💧 **Blue**: Elven knowledge, Wizards’ foresight, and subtle manipulation - 💀 **Black**: The corruption of Sauron, the Nazgûl, and treachery - 🔥 **Red**: The Rohirrim and Dwarves; Mordor’s fires, Orc hordes, and the chaos of battle - 🌳 **Green**: The Shire, Elves, Ents, and the strength of nature --- ## Cube Philosophy & Booster Preparation This is a **Card Set Cube** built to mirror the LTR draft experience while adding a small power-and-flavor bump. - **Card counts by rarity:** - Commons ×3 - Uncommons ×2 - Rares/Mythics ×1 - “Ring-frame” **legendary alternates** ×1 (treated as **commons** in this cube) > The “ring-frame” alternates mean you can see two versions of a character in the pool (e.g., [[Gandalf, Friend of the Shire]] plus [[its ring-frame version|98023ab4-50f4-4789-a632-162ef8270871]]). This adds spice, supports legends, and nudges decks a bit more powerful without breaking Limited. - **LTC inclusions:** A **curated selection** from **Tales of Middle-earth: Commander** (LTC) is added to reinforce under-supported themes, improve archetype texture, and slightly raise the cube’s power level while keeping gameplay close to LTR Limited. - **Booster collation (per pack):** - **1** rare/mythic **non-land** - **3** uncommons - **10** commons/**ring-frame alternates** - **1** rare/mythic **land** > Packs use LTR-like ratios so drafts feel familiar: clear signals, repeatable commons, spicy legends, and one extra land slot to improve access to fixing and powerful utility lands. --- ## Mechanics ### The Ring tempts you When the Ring tempts you for the first time, you get **The Ring** emblem and choose a **Ring-bearer** you control. >>> [[!The Ring]] <<< Each time you’re tempted afterward, you may choose a (new) Ring-bearer and The Ring gains its next tiered ability (up to four in total). Our goal is to capture Middle-earth while keeping the rhythm and replayability of Limited play - recognizable LTR draft scenarios, spicy legends (thanks to ring-frame alternates), and enough overlap between themes that each draft tells a new tale. We’ll keep tuning the cube with community feedback and **17Lands** insights, while remaining open to thoughtful **LTC** additions that deepen flavor, support underpowered archetypes, and raise the experience without breaking Limited balance. And when **Universes Beyond: The Hobbit** arrives, expect updates so you can raid Smaug’s hoard, wander under the Misty Mountains, and set out from Bag End once more. If you draft, share your trophy decks and notes - we’d love to see the Fellowships (and fell companies) you build. Until then: may your packs be shiny, your Ring-bearers brave, and your journeys memorable. **Happy drafting!**
